Though October in Texas doesn’t typically feel as crisp as it does in much of the rest of the country, fall events and activities are in full swing. A great way to get out of the house and enjoy the (slightly cooler) weather is at Southlake’s 14^th annual Oktoberfest.

During the 3-day event from October 2-4, over 100,000 people will visit the festival, brought to you by the Southlake Chamber of Commerce. Attendance is completely free!

Taking place in Southlake Town Square, activities at Oktoberfest in Southlake are varied and exciting!

Music and Dancing

Come out to hear authentic German music as well as other swinging sets from bands like the Swiss Horns, Derek Anthony, and Oil Boom. And you’ll love watching the Alpine Dancers and others show off their moves.

Wiener Dog Races

Last year over 180 Dachshunds participated in the Wiener Dog Races. Check out this adorable photo gallery of last year’s races. Dachshunds run in lanes, and dogs with the best times in heats go on to compete again until a winner is chosen.

Entertainment for Adults and Children

Adults will love strolling through nearly 100 arts and crafts booths; a Sports Zone airing college and NFL games; street performers; and, of course, the Die Festalle (festival) tent with German food, beer, and live entertainment.

In the past the Sports Zone has included things like scooter races, free-throw contests, football tosses, and snag golf – with prizes up for grabs. Last year, videogame fanatics enjoyed the GameStop® booth for a virtual gaming fix.

Kids will definitely stay entertained in the Kids Zone. In past years, they’ve been able to play games, take train rides, enjoy a bounce house, have their faces painted, and climb a rock wall. Kids will hear music too. Last year’s favorite performers Micah Blalock, Brave Combo, and School of Rock were hits.

Oktoberfest is free, but the Kids Zone does require a $10 wristband.
